New York State home sales were up more than 17 percent in the 2011 third quarter, compared to the 2010 third quarter, according to preliminary single-family sales data accumulated by the New York State Association of REALTORS(R).

Congressman Hinchey and the Tompkins Council of Governments are asking for clarification on rules regarding mortgages and gas leases.

‘Many homeowners who signed leases now have questions about their mortgages and their ability to refinance or resell their homes, because important information was not brought to their attention by drilling companies pushing to them to lease their land,’ Hinchey said.
